The 30BB Team finds out all about the Mexican festivities at Social’s flagship outlets in association with Jose Cuervo tequila
The Day of the Dead festival, rooted in Mexican heritage, pays homage to departed loved ones with a blend of indigenous Aztec beliefs and Catholic traditions. Traditionally, families create elaborate ofrendas (altars) adorned with marigolds, candles, and cherished items, honouring their spirits by placing their favourite foods and drinks.
This celebration is marked by colourful parades, sugar skull decorations, and intricate face painting, emphasising the joyful cycle of life and death. This year, Social has brought the remarkable revelry to India, by hosting Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) events at several of its flagship spaces in multiple cities between October 27 and November 5, 2023.
The fiesta, a ticketed event buyable on Zomato, is on at 15 Social outposts across India — Mumbai (Khar, Powai, Malad, Chembur, and antiSOCIAL), Pune (FC Road, The Mills), Delhi NCR (Hauz Khas, Saket, IFC), Chandigarh (Sector 7), Dehradun, and Bengaluru (Indiranagar, Hebbal, Church Street). It’s all about themed cocktails and music to match the mood. Guests also have the chance to turn themselves into works of living art with the epic face-painting sessions that will be available at some of these Social outlets.
The brand has associated with Monika Alcobev, one of India’s premier suppliers of luxurious foreign liquor brands, to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with the legendary tequila brand Jose Cuervo for the festivities.
