The 30BB Team checks out the exclusive blend from Chivas Regal that’s now available in India.

Chivas Ultis XX is the first blended Malt Scotch Whisky from the House of Chivas Regal, for which the brand has hand-selected five of its most precious signature Speyside single malts… Strathisla, Longmorn, Tormore, Allt-a-Bhainne, and Braeval. This year, Chivas Regal is celebrating its five legendary Master Blenders who have guided the brand’s famous blends since 1909 through this new expression.

They say that from the Chivas inventory of millions of casks, less than one per cent are used to create Ultis. Each of its components have been distilled in copper stills and aged for at least 20 years. Chivas’ expert blending team has individually nosed and selected casks with superior character. This traditional method of hand selection is reserved for only the highest quality blends today.

The 30 BB taste test

At first sniff, it takes you an almost-Enid Blytonian winter picnic — think juicy red apples, the sweetness of raspberry jam, intensity of vanilla pods, and the luxurious creaminess of butter toffee. When you sip and savour and roll the complex and powerful blend on your tongue, your palate is treated to hints of floral honey, syrupy sweet poached pears, and a creamy milk chocolate and malt mouth feel. But don’t be misled into thinking that Chivas Regal Ultis XX overpoweringly sweet… the orange zest and tangy apricot balance the flavours perfectly, even as the finish is long lasting and smooth.
